[WIP] Spafford Chords: Plans
-
Guys, I got almost the whole thing for once...I put this together at work so I cant check things on my guitar but I think its like 90% complete...Missing the walk down for the "And if it all becomes too much for you to say, I’ll never know" and havent tried to figure out the riff they do before dropping back into the lyrics after the jam. Im not 100% on that last verse right after Reds key part, I'll have to listen again but pretty sure they just keep that up straight into the jam
Chords
Am: 5-7-7-5-5-5
x-3-5-5-5-5
G: 3-5-5-4-3-3
F: 1-3-3-2-1-1
E: 0-1-2-2-0-0This is where I play the chords - I actually tend to skip the E and A strings and just play the higher parts of the chord (ie: Am is x-x-7-5-5-5)
Intro in Am - Brian slides up into it and funks around before they drop into the verse C > G > F > C x2 C G F C C G F C When you stand so close to me, I can feel the way that you look at the world. C G F C C G F C And when you tell me it’s a sweet masterpiece, I just take it for the way it is. E (not sure yet on this walk down - maybe E > C > G > F# > F > E) And if it all becomes too much for you to say, I’ll never know. C G F C C G F C And when the plan’s so hard to see, we all make mistakes and we all lose our way. C G F C C G F C But it can’t always be lies and deceit to fill the pages of our papers and the things we read. E (not sure yet on this walk down - maybe E > C > G > F# > F > E) But if this all becomes too much for you to say, I’ll never know. Drums speed up into next progression Am G There’s just something in the way it moves tonight. Am G It’s a feeling in the air and a calling through the fire. Am G To take a step and tumble in and find a place Am G To raise your hands up in the air and say… Am G Why yi yi yi yi yi yi yi yi yioh F Ohhhh Am > G - This is where Red does that latin-y key part and some Brian lead before they hit that little riff
I think after the riff they do a little C>G>F and they may continue that up through the jam - I think at some point in the jam they go back to the Am>G towards the peak since they do that little riff again to end the song.
I should really listen to the song with my guitar while I write this, I've been hooked on it lately so luckily I've been listening enough but still a shitty memory..
If you do it differently, let me know! Feel free to add to it as well

I dont remember how to preserve the spaces in this markdown editor - heres a screenshot of it on wordpad with the spaces on the chords corrected ..if one of the admins wants to fix it, that'd be the most rad
Its fixed!

Hmm...now it gave me too many spaces haha I cant win. Anyway, I updated it and made some changes after listening this morning and updated my screenshot with the correct spacing. If I have time later I'll try and figure out how to fix the spacing correctly..im getting closer
Scratch that, I fixed it - no bold when using that code box though...I hate markdown
