Hey everyone! I’m very new to Spafford, but I dig what I’ve heard so far. Problem is, as with any band of the like, there is a lot of ground to cover and it’s always tough to find a jumping off point to dig in to their music. I’m not very familiar with their catalogue and they’re coming to CO in March so I’d like to get familiar with them before I go!

I’m sure I’m not the first person to ask this, so I aplogize if I’m repeating this for the millionth time, but I’d love to get some recommendations on some shows to start with and where to go from there. Thanks!

@rbct November of 2017 is a great place to start. You get the best playing from the current lineup, in my opinion.

Check out any of these: 11/10, 11/08, 11/4

Then, just work your way back. All of Fall '17 is pretty stellar.

Yo @rbct, welcome to the Herd. We've got a couple of posts that are designed to help new Nerds get started. They were written before the recent fall tour (mostly) and so point to shows before then. There were some real gems this fall, so I invite others to recommend from there.

          In the meantime check out:

There's a lot to discover. If you don't have a subscription to nugs.net I'd say it is absolutely worth it. We get streams and AUDs posted, but if you want the soundboards from the latest shows you'll need nugs to support your habit. Fortunately they give a free month trial membership which I don't think (not sure) you need a credit card for. We also do drawings from time to time for free nugs subscriptions. There may even be one coming in the very near future.

Welcome! Enjoy! Spafford is the real deal.

My vote is start with the last show in Nugs, 1/31/18 ...that Jam -> Backdoor Funk to open is wild and the rest of the show holds up to it. They're on fire right now this whole 2018 has been sick you can't pick a bad one starting with recent shows.
