Welcome to the Spafford Summer Six Pack. If you're not exactly sure what this is or why you're here, basically we found six
shows from the last six years that are either relatively unknown compared to shows from the same time frame, or do a good job
of highlighting the band's sound at the time. Or both. Over the next few weeks you are encouraged to listen to these six shows
and tell us what you think about them in this thread. Hopefully you will be able to find a new favorite show or song, and I look
forward to hearing what you have to say. The list of shows is as follows:

      2012-10-05 - Prescott College
      https://spaffnerds.com/shows/2012-10-05

      2013-05-25 - Flagstaff Brewing Company
      https://spaffnerds.com/shows/2013-05-25

      2014-12-31 - Cactus Jack's
      https://spaffnerds.com/shows/2014-12-31

      2015-11-06 - Orphreum Theatre
      https://spaffnerds.com/shows/2015-11-06

      2016-07-30 - The Green Room
      https://spaffnerds.com/shows/2016-07-30

2017-04-13 - Music Hall of Williamsburg
      https://spaffnerds.com/shows/2017-04-13

All of these shows have high quality recordings, which are available on their respective archive.org pages, found on their show pages linked above.

      ** From @damian
As a bonus we're adding one extra to the 6 pack, the 2017-08-05 BB King's show which might be the band's ultimate 'coming out' party. Nothing says "We're here to stay!" like a sold out, Baker's Dozen post Phish show.

      2017-08-05 - BB King's Blues Club

@myanruth Thanks for putting this together! Starting the first one (2012) now! This soundcheck/intro jam into Ain't That Wrong is awesome. Looking forward to this 40 minute Land Down Under > Galisteo Way sequence.

@Cody-Soule I love all the old soundchecks > opening songs, theres a few others floating around on archive. And don't forget about the fire alarm jam thru bee jam segment right before land down under, the whole thing makes for a really solid hour of music.

@myanruth thanks for setting this up, this first show is a beauty! @cody-soule I'm with ya on the ATW, the slow intro jam is incredible. I love how patient Spafford is with their improvisation; by not trying to force the song anywhere they end up taking it to the most wondrous places. Their tightness and patience already in these earliest shows is so friggin impressive. ATW has been growing on me as one of my favorite tunes, this is my favorite performance yet. The rest of the show is great too. LDU takes it OUT there and the Funkadelic>Weasel is straight Spaffurito- everything I like about Spafford wrapped up as one that takes 23 minutes to eat and is followed by a smooth Anisette- a-la-Diana to aid in digestion.

@Johnny-Love Well reviewed, ATW is one of my favorites as well! Gotta say I love the Gotta Jibboo cover here too. Love the song originally and they just put a great spin on every Phish song they cover. I'm not saying by any means that I want them to cover Phish now, but it certainly was cool back then! This heavy jam towards the end of LTLO is also really awesome. Overall, this is a great show, and shows that Spafford has had some impressive improvisational chops for quite a long time!

Not a problem, but I can't take all the credit, this was originally @damian's idea and @Frito-Pie helped with the show choices.

I agree that they should probably stay way from covering Phish, but I wouldn't mind hearing a song like Bug or Dirt every now and then in a ballad spot

Yeah that on fire gets real out there. I wish Brian would incorporate more of that crazy loop stuff hes doing starting around 9:30 in the jam

Video quality isn't the greatest but its still definitely worth watching .

@Toys-n-Tots Were you at that show? That was the most recent time I've seen them. The Stoops sit in was awesome, I just wish it went on a little bit longer

I certainly was in attendance and will be for 8/5 at BB Kings and 9/30 at the Bowl. Re-listening now and I'm right there with ya. That solo that he jumps into to start off is sick. Also since we're on the topic of this show, have they ever done anything like that fake out ending freeze they did before dropping into that Reprise? That was some shit

@Toys-n-Tots Nice I'm going to the BD after show to, not sure about BB yet. And I'm sure they have, can't thing of anything right off the top of my head, but the 2017-04-01 - Bluebird Theater show has something kind of close, where they start of with the intro to Mike's Song, and then transition into Backdoor Funk after a few measures.

Started at the beginning and listening to the 10-5-12 show. It's straight fire out of the gate.

                                            Highlights for me so far:

                                            • Soundcheck -> ATW
                                            • LTLO
                                            • LDU (so untzy 🙂 )
