If You See Something Say Something

@Chris-Ogor-Lopez you can do this manually. If you go to the posts view you can change the sort order. Look on the top right on desktop. I'm traveling but I'll show you a screenshot later.
I can change this as a default for all users if we decide to do that.
-
@damian Deeerp, it totally is working as mine is set Newest to Oldest. I just overlooked the fact that the top two posts were pinned posts hah
-
@damian sweet that's awesome. I wish I had written down the teases I've noticed listening over the years, but this just gives me another excuse to listen to more shows haha. One more thing I. Prices is that I couldn't get the image uploader to work when posting a reply. It would say the image was 100% uploaded but then an error would occur. Not sure if it's just on my end or what
-
@myanruth Yeah... the image uploader is broken on mobile. I've got to look into that. It works on desktop.
-
@damian
Huh, for some reason it wasn't working in chrome on my laptop, but it might just be something on my side, I'll try it again later -
I think that "Without The Curtain" in this show (https://spaffnerds.com/shows/2013-02-25) should be "The Curtain" - Phish cover
-
@Cody-Soule I think you're right. It actually is a Phish cover. I think it's a joke on "The Curtain... with..." I think it's just the "with" jam, hence, "Without the Curtain."
But IDK. I haven't listened to it. If you think it's better the other way we can change it.
-
@damian Haha it's alright, the wording doesn't matter as long as it's marked as a cover now
-
@Cody-Soule Fixed it. It's now a cover
-
Would be helpful to be able to sort show list by venue for when the date escapes you. Site is awesome, good work!
-
@damian there is still the song Munchkin Land in the songs section. Looks like fake/test data.

Being new to the band's catalog, I am trying to listen to as much as I can lately, since I will be getting to see them live for my first show coming up soon. I have been following setlists the last few nights to try to listen to any songs I don't recognize the names.
Maybe I am missing it somewhere here on Spaffnerds. I have dug through the songs list and setlist page looking for a 'stats' type list of songs for the current fall tour. Am I missing it? seems like with what is presented by the dedicated fans/admins/spaffnerdlords it would be here somewhere. If it isn't on the site it would be a great addition in the future!
(see this for an example of what I am looking for... https://www.setlist.fm/stats/spafford-1bdb35d8.html ... it isn't complete - as sets are added by users...but gives you an idea what I was looking for.)
If not feasible anytime soon, maybe we as fans should be dedicated to updating through that site to have it to refer to, as I am sure setting it up would be an undertaking. -
@spaffytaffy Welcome to the site and to the community. We're happy to have you.
The goal of this site has always been to produce a rich community experience, including a stats engine akin to phish.net. In fact, in many ways phish.net has been a model for a lot of what we want, and don't want, to do. What you describe is absolutely on the table.
With that said, what you're seeing on this site is predominantly my labor. I'm the only engineer who has committed code to this project and I also work to moderate the site and promote it. It's a ton of work, but I love to do it. Oh yeah... I also have a day job and a family.
You're welcome to update any other sites you wish. We started this site because we wanted to own our world. We didn't want to use PT, setlist.fm, facebook, or any other platform. We wanted to create an experience for the spaffnerds, by the spaffnerds, and of the spaffnerds.
I can only ask you to be patient and stick with us. The site has been up for about 4 months. Please be patient as we work to roll out new features over time. I promise it will be worth it. Stats will be here. In the meantime, mark off the shows that you're going to so that you don't have to do it later. Help us keep setlists up to date and report on missing info when you see it.
Figure out ways to help engage people on the forums and become a deeper part of our community. Soon you may find the features you're looking for right at your fingertips.Other sites exist, and they may provide features we don't. But we have a community and that is the most powerful force in the world.

@damian Thanks for such a quick reply!
I can see how much love and work go into this site... that it is so new (I had no clue!!) and already has so much for fans to utilize and such a great vibe within the community is awesome.
I am not at all disappointed that what I looking for isn't here, and I understand it would take some extensive work to bring it to life. I was kind of hoping I was missing it, and figured since you had asked for some constructive feedback I would bring it up since it was something I was on the hunt for, in case others were too. I would either get pointed to it (or something close) or be able to suggest the idea if it wasn't already on the site.
I don't have a big online/social footprint...I have found myself looking forward to perusing spaffnerds.com in my free time more and more... I truly value it and want it to thrive!
You are doing amazing! -
@spaffytaffy thanks man. The community is the sum of it's parts and I can see it's better to have you in it. Thanks for your kind words and patience.

@damian
you have a css issue when you shrink the browser in chrome the menu images at the top gets moved to the white background and are not visible unless you move your mouse over them. -
@archive-it you're right. We do. I've seen it and am aware of it. Thanks. I'll make sure it gets onto the backlog.

Can we get a "Peach Jam" officially?! The band labeled the 8/12 pre-remedy jam as Peach Jam. Only played once
-
@SpaffBird in short... No, but this is open to discussion. Maybe we should make a poll and a dedicated post.
The general thinking is that one off jams just clutter the dataset. They are going to be a problem for some of the stats we generate, they're unpredictable, and they don't repeat.
Often, as was the case at the Iron Horse they will follow a cover. Phish does this too, as I understand it, to manage royalty payment. I don't get all the details but basically a 4 minute version of a cover is "cheaper" than a 29 minute version. So when the last 25 minutes are jam, they annotate it that way for the release. You can see this in the way the Baker's Dozen 1999 cover was tracked.
There are exceptions to this rule. The Pizza Jam is so classic it deserves it's name. Cabin Jam is just a straight jam (it is actually listed as jam > jam). The jams from 8/11/14 were named in honor of Robin Williams who, I believe, passed that day.
Maybe we need a way to nominate a jam for naming. I will say that the Peach Jam was amazing. So if there is a candidate it could be considered. But IDK. Another possibility that @Cody and I discussed is having a "Jam" song that gets used in these situations. That would give us 3 levels of jam:
- it's the song
- it's a sick jam
- it's so good or special that it gets named.
But my feeling right now is to just note that it was a "notable jam" and move on. I'm curious what the community thinks though and we can, if you want, post the question there. I will warn that I, and the mods, hold veto power though. I'm (as they say in the open source world) benevolent dictator for life.
-
@damian makes sense to not list all the jams unless they end up in the regular rotation. #trusttheprocess
