Santa Barbara felt like a special show last night, but some of that could have been the intimacy. Reminded me of an undersold bar show from years ago. Good start to leg 2!

It's a Bunch really hits the feels. Kinda takes me to a place where death surrounds me so, only because I am so full of life. It's kinda balancing out the force. I'm feeling so alive so things around me perish under the weight of my vacuum of intelligence. Something like that.
Then the segue into Lonely has Brian giving us a few extra measures of pippity pop while the rest of the band is probably smiling gracefully watching a master make everyone patiently wait for his arrival.
Lonely might be my favorite spafford song. I have only seen it 1 out of every 8 shows and a few of them were before they started extending it. Brian remains playful in the jam. His fingers just don't fucking stop. The rest of the band shift tempo ever so slightly and it helps Brian shift from delicacy into more fiery dance. It keeps building and building with Mr Moss leaving our faces in shambles while the other guys keep the foundation firm. You can hear everyone else playing Lonely and finally Brian gives in and we have the end verse of Lonely to settle our hearts just a little.

Shit, what about that Memphis from Terrapin Crossroads?
Edit: Lonely from this show also deserves a mention. @RadiantDarkness definitely one of my favorite songs! (If not THE favorite)

@Cody Was just about to post this but you beat me to it. Gorgeous is the first word that comes to mind.
-
Raleigh Backdoor Funk. Noteworthy for two very distinct jams. Firey bolts of Moss occur multiple times in this version.
-
@RadiantDarkness that jam out of It’s a Bunch is one of the most beautiful little jams I’ve heard them play. Simple yet so sweet. Love this.

I was going to also mention BDF after relistening to it. Definitely top notch stuff. Raleigh was worth the wait.

@RadiantDarkness Completely agree. That first set in Tahoe 3/5 was completely locked in. Exquisite jams.

@RadiantDarkness Can't wait to catch that one! Liking the fact that these 40-50+ min jams are becoming more and more common.
Sidenote: Have they all happened on weeknights? If so, time to quit my job and switch to working weekends!

the VBD from the SoHo on March 1 is especially excellent and I think the 2nd set from the Feb 28 show in Solana Beach is one of the best of the year so far, very heartfelt. That Bee jam inside All My Friends and Postman is heavenly; a perfect Light ends the show in style.

Red’s Jam to open 3/11 is gorgeous. Flows nicely into a great ETS as well.
-
Walls from https://spaffnerds.com/shows/2018-03-07 goes deep. Loving this version that segues like butter into BDF. Word is it they teased Made for Wesley in it too.

For those of you on APL and RED I started a collage on each site with the "essential Spafford Shows from Nugs.Net" from the discussions here at Spaffnerds and Facebook sites.
I'll be keeping an eye here to see what all around/A to Z dynamite shows you guys are raving about so I can add to the lists along the way,so thank you very much.
I added 3-15 almost on the opening jam alone but the rest of the show is on a very high level as well...so it's a winner.
peace. -
@Cody all the votes

@GeorgeBailey I was lucky enough to hear that sequence this morning. I LOVE when they put a set together like that. I mean seriously...
Red's Jam>ETS>Dis Go>ETS>Postman!#$
IMO, the post ETS jam is what makes Spafford>everyone else.
