Listen to Organ Freeman

First caught these guys at Canyon Jam and was very impressed. They remind me of faster version of Soulive. Their new album is awesome and they are playing before Spafford at Red Rocks.
-
@ke11en_it Love them! Luckily I got to see them at moe.down last year! Looking forward to seeing them again at Peach fest.
-
@Cody I hope nugs signs them soon! Really want to hear a two set show with some different covers and jams.
-
Havent caught them live yet but everything I've heard has been really cool. definitely want to check them out

@ke11en_it in the spirit of this section of the forum can you make some recommendations about specific content to listen to? Got a favorite song? A link to a youtube video? Anything that would help somebody like me, who doesn't really know the guys, to connect to the 'best of' their work?
FWIW, I originally envisioned this section as for opening bands only. Really a place to showcase their work and give the Nerds some exposure before the shows. But your post makes me think there may be a broader opportunity here and I like that idea.

@damian They havent toured with Spafford (yet) but they were both on the same bill for Canyon jam and a few other fests and are both managed by L4LM
That said, I remember really enjoying their newest album "Respect My Art" they put out last summer. I dont think I've listened to it since it came out last summer but it was good

It's good background music (no vocals)

@damian Just figured out how to link a couple days ago, lol. They’re not opening for Spaff on tour, but they are opening at RRX. So, that’s kind of a gray area I guess.
I thought about mentioning a couple songs that I like from them, but I also enjoy listening to a band without previous knowledge.
I think section dedicated to non Spafford music would be great. It’s nice to listen to other bands that are “better” than Spafford or new, come back refreshed, and reaffirm that Spafford’s fucking awesome!
Thanks for the advice Damian, love this place! -
@ke11en_it My initial thought was "If they open for Spafford for more than 1 show on a tour then they get a 'Check Out' post." I'm going to continue to do that AND I'm going to keep this forum open for you guys to fill in other suggestions. When I do a "Check Out" post I'll feature it on the homepage here: https://forum.spaffnerds.com/
I get what you're saying about keeping a clean slate but I think there's a tremendous amount of value (for me personally) of somebody "in the know" pointing me in the right direction. For example, VBD is fucking amazing, but I might send a new Nerd to Slip and Squander, All In, or Shake You Loose. Each is far more accessible and increases the likelihood that the new Nerd will catch the fire.
But shit... who am I to blow against the wind. And ideally the thread will evolve naturally including suggestions about the band's work, just as this thread has.
@ke11en_it super glad to have you on board. Every one of us helps shape this community into what it can be and what it is. Much love brother.
