I don’t know how often they jam out Walls, but the Portland version was killer...also like America and reprise so far, among others...the West la fadeaway was great too(I know its a dead tune but great version)

@SpaffPrise you're a nerd after my own ear, these are among my favorite songs! (along with all the other ones - lol) I don't think Walls sees the > 15min jam plateau too often (i could be wrong on that, i've probably only listened to 15-20 versions of it and it's been played 72 times). however a healthy 13min version of Walls, one of my favorites and one of the raging-est i've listened to, is from 2012-04-20 at The Birdcage. this is one of the band's earliest shows, probably the 2nd or 3rd time they performed Walls. Just be careful about operating heavy machinery when listening to this version... at least for me it has been known to cause spontaneous body convulsions and headbangs of an extreme nature. This same show has an America-Reprise (and a Dark Star cover) so you're in luck!! Not my favorite rendition of either, but they're great and fascinating as the 2nd or 3rd times these songs were ever "performed", although based on their tightness you wouldn't be surprised if it was their 100th time being performed. While you're at it, the next night-- 2012-04-21 at The Birdcage-- is a fantastic show and closes with a 17min Walls. There's also a Franklin's Tower > Fire on the Mountain cover that will steal your face right off your head. also the first version of Dream Jam that I ever heard and a beauty. peace!!

This place is great. Thank you for the wonderfully thoughtful and eloquent suggestions! Once I stop listening to this Portland show on repeat I have plenty to get after. Heavy machinery be damned.

Thanks, I’d love to, but I think I need to stick to auds for now. nugs.net too rich for my blood, looks like there’s plenty out there though

@SpaffPrise have you put your name in for the drawing? It's totally free and we are giving away 2, 3 month subscriptions. Also, there's a 30 day free trial. Not sure of you need a credit card for that though.

@SpaffPrise I'm biased of course, but the Philly show had sick jams for both walls and America, and that whole show is fire (honestly they have all been this tour). I've only caught 3 shows now, but I love how after each one I have like 4 new favs I only partially appreciated before! This tour has been crazy, I don't know how the hell they do it 5 nights a week, they really are freaking killing it.

Props to @damian for putting together such a great gathering spot, this place really is top notch!

@PhillySpaffnerd well thanks man. It'd just be an empty webspace without you guys. So thank you all for coming. Spread the word.

I too am a huge fan of that Philly show. It's straight hot fire from start to end. There are a couple of AUDs in the spaffbase as well as a link to the official release. Definitely worth a listen.

The Ithaca show from this tour is one of favs - the Parody > Its a Bunch > Parody is soo tight and really has a Dead type feel to it

@damian I've listened to it 3 or 4 times the past couple of days and can't get enough. The only thing that stinks is its impeding me from listening to other Spafford jams but I'll get to them eventually

@BBlank20 That's okay. In computer science there we have 2 types of tree traversals, depth first or breadth first. Either you go deep into one branch of the tree and discover what's there, or you go across all the nodes at the same level.

Point is, there's nothing wrong with looking deeply at one thing. Study it. Love it. Master it. You'll find the rest when you're ready. 🙂

"This is the Madhu-Vidyā in quintessence – the contemplation of all things by the contemplation of anything."'

Don't ask why, as I don't know, but my first foray into The Grateful Dead was listening to only Dark Star. I listened to the first 50 or 60 of them before listening to any of their other tracks.

@RadiantDarkness I was that way with Tweezer as I didn't get into Phish until '98 so I had all of the momentous 94-98 versions to explore. What would you guys say is Spafford's "tweezer"
